District Council 9 and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) represents over 2,200 members and their families in Queens. Thanks to Davon Lomax, Political Director, and his colleagues, DC9 and IUPAT was able to leverage the Save for College Program’s neighborhood-based financial infrastructure to provide $25,000 in immediate cash relief to District 30 families that have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the future, NYC Kids RISE looks forward to collaborating with DC 9 and IUPAT, and other unions on raising additional funding streams for Community Scholarships for participating students.
