Nicole Perry

Former Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Financial Empowerment, NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection

NYC Financial Empowerment Centers provide free one-on-one financial counseling for New Yorkers. They are coordinated and supported by the NYC Department of Consumer & Worker Protection’s Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) and housed within local community based organizations at 33+ sites throughout the city. NYC Kids RISE worked with OFE to develop parent/guardian facing information materials, a training and a technical assistance guide to enable financial counselors at the Centers located in District 30 to support families to complete the Program’s three foundational Building Blocks and make a long-term savings plan as part of the Center’s counseling services. Counselors from District 30’s Centers and others across the city provided significant feedback on the Program’s design and informational materials prior to launch. Nicole Perry, former Deputy Commissioner for OFE, played a pivotal role in helping to develop the account infrastructure.
