Across Community School District 30, the month of January is now known as “NYC Scholarship Month”—one of six family engagement anchor events that schools organize their Save for College Program outreach around. Each January the current Kindergarten class receives their NYC Scholarship Accounts and schools work directly with families to support them in activating and viewing their NYC Scholarship Accounts for the first time. As a dad and PTA member at P.S. 148, Edwin Flores joined hundreds of other parents, and the school community for a special NYC Scholarship Month event with guests including Chancellor Carranza and local elected officials. At the event, scores of kindergarten families activated their child’s NYC Scholarship Account for the first time. This event also marked the milestone of 10,000 students with NYC Scholarship Accounts across the school district.
