Sabine Maura

Save for College Program Manager, NYC Department of Education

NYC Kids RISE has worked in close partnership with the NYC Department of Education (DOE) on the development and implementation of the Save for College Program in Community School District 30. Rooted in its commitment to equity and excellence, the DOE has been committed to building the Program to be a powerful tool in making college more affordable and accessible for all of its students. Since the program’s launch, Sabine Maura has served as a critical liaison, thought partner, and service designer. With involvement from many DOE divisions and departments, she has coordinated the participation of divisions and teams, including the Office of the Chancellor, Division of Instructional and Informational Technology, the offices of the Superintendents for Community School District 30 and District 75, Queens North Borough Citywide Office, Office of School Design and Charter Partnerships, Family and Community Empowerment (FACE), Office of Postsecondary Readiness, and others. Here Sabine talks about her work with School Secretaries in developing a backbone element of the Program – the opt-out process.
